Exploration of the myth of superiority, racism as addiction and coping mechanism, the Scapegoat complex, and how all this manifests on individual, collective, and political level.
Media & Symbolism
Exploration of symbols and archetypes in media, movies, and contemporary culture. I also provide consulting to writers, creators, and movie makers on culture, psychology, and character development (see Consulting section below.)
Romani culture
Together with my partner Pepi Mustafov, I co-run The Sky and Earth Know, a publication on Romani culture, customs, psychology, and hidden realities. We also translate Romani songs into English.
Cultural & Storytelling consulting
I provide consulting services to writers, creators, and movie-makers on culture, psychology, and character development. Currently, I am part of a Consulting board on Romani culture together with my partner Pepi Mustafov for Pixar Animation Studios. I have also provided consulting services (such as authorship, review, and coaching) to book authors and game developers in the areas of history, female psychology, Jungian psychology, and symbolism in order to aid authentic character and plot development.
About Me
Hello! I am Martina Petkova, and I have been a writer since I was 9 years old. My passion in writing (and in life) is to explore the psychological root of things. Only when we know why we do things can we hope for happiness, joy, and change - both individually and collectively. This is why I believe art has to be incisive, a true and raw reflection of our psyche. In my writing, I aim to illuminate instead of numb and obscure, and I love working with other creators who do the same.
My background spans from activism through Jungian psychology, a decade-long incarnation in the corporate world, and a rich variety of writing projects.
